For this shot, taken sometime in Spring, I utilised my Canon EOS 90D with the EF50mm f/1.4 USM lens. The choice of a wide-open aperture at f/1.4 was crucial, creating that beautiful shallow depth of field that ensures the bride remains in sharp focus while the background softly blurs into an artistic wash. This technique draws the viewer’s eye directly to her serene expression and the exquisite details of her dress and bouquet, emphasising the bridal glow. A shutter speed of 1/160s was sufficient to freeze any movement, preserving the stillness of the moment, and an ISO of 100 minimised noise, ensuring a pristine image quality. The 50.0mm focal length offered a standard, natural perspective, and the use of flash added a modern, dramatic edge to the natural light, enhancing the textures and luminosity.
