Capturing the dynamic atmosphere of a church wedding requires precise technical control. I utilised my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV paired with the versatile EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. To ensure a reasonable depth of field that kept both the foreground subjects and the background elements in pleasing focus, I shot at f/5. A shutter speed of 1/250s was chosen to effectively freeze any motion, ensuring sharpness in candid moments. Given the natural lighting conditions within the church, I opted for an ISO of 6400. While this can introduce some noise, it allowed for the necessary fast shutter speed without resorting to flash, maintaining the ambient mood. The focal length of 70.0mm provided a moderate field of view, ideal for capturing the group while providing context of the beautiful Upper Stratton Baptist Church surroundings.
