Technical Approach
Captured during the summer, this image was taken using my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV with the versatile EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. To ensure Dan and Amy were the clear focus while still showing the context of the church, I selected a focal length of 135.0mm and an aperture of f/5.6, providing a good depth of field. A shutter speed of 1/125s was sufficient to freeze the moment while allowing for the ambient light. Given the church’s interior lighting, I used an ISO of 32000 – a higher sensitivity that helped capture the scene’s natural light and atmosphere without needing disruptive flash, even if it introduces some slight noise which is acceptable for preserving the authentic moment. This technical control allows me to focus on the artistic composition and emotional capture.
