Main Content
My approach to wedding photography is about blending artistic vision with authentic documentary style to preserve every treasured memory. The time spent getting ready is often overlooked but provides incredibly rich opportunities for capturing genuine emotion and interaction amongst the bridal party. From the intricate details of the dress and accessories to the laughter shared between friends, these are moments that build the narrative of your special day.
The Vision Behind the Shot
This particular image features a radiant woman with light skin and beautifully styled curly brown hair in an elegant updo. She’s wearing a stunning white, sequined top with short sleeves and a matching white skirt, adding a touch of glamour to the preparation. Holding a delicate bouquet of dried flowers and greenery, she looks contemplatively away from the camera towards a grassy field. The backdrop is dominated by a large tree adorned with vibrant yellow leaves, perfectly capturing the essence of an autumn wedding under an overcast sky. The composition places her to the right of the central tree, using the natural environment to frame the moment.
Client Experience & Value
Choosing the right photographer for your wedding is about trusting someone to not just take pictures, but to artfully preserve the emotion, atmosphere, and unique story of your day. For the ‘Getting Ready’ moments, I focus on creating a relaxed environment where genuine interactions can unfold naturally. My aim is to be an unobtrusive presence, capturing the intimate details and anticipatory feelings that make this part of the day so special. You receive a timeless collection of images that transport you back to the feeling of that morning, complementing the grander moments that follow.
Technical Approach
Captured in autumn using my Canon EOS 90D and EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens, I chose an aperture of f/7.1. This setting allowed for a good depth of field, ensuring both the subject and the beautiful autumnal background had pleasing clarity without completely blurring the environment. A shutter speed of 1/200s was sufficient to freeze any subtle movements, and ISO 200 kept digital noise to a minimum, ensuring clean, crisp details. The focal length of 30.0 mm provided a wide enough view to include the significant tree and surroundings. No flash was used, relying on the natural overcast light to create a soft, atmospheric feel. The result is a visually rich image that feels both artistic and authentic.
