Introduction: The morning of a wedding is a period charged with emotion and anticipation. It’s a time when careful styling and intimate moments unfold, setting the tone for the day ahead. As a #weddingphotography specialist, I believe capturing this ‘Getting Ready’ phase is just as vital as the ceremony itself, documenting the intricate details and raw feelings before the official proceedings begin.
Main Content
My lens is drawn to the artistry in the preparation, such as the elegant styling of bridal hair or the careful placement of an accessory. These elements contribute significantly to the overall aesthetic and narrative of the wedding day. Capturing these instances provides invaluable context and layers to the couple’s story, allowing them to look back and remember not just the grand events, but the quiet, personal build-up.
The Vision Behind the Shot
This particular image captures a close-up view, focusing on the back of the subject’s head, highlighting a beautifully styled low bun. Pinned into the bun is a decorative hair accessory featuring a cluster of white pearls and small silver accents. The soft, blurred background ensures the focus remains entirely on this exquisite detail and the care taken in the final touches of preparation. It speaks to the quiet anticipation and the transformation unfolding.
Client Experience & Value
For my clients, the ‘Getting Ready’ photos are a treasure trove of memories. They capture the laughter and nerves shared with bridesmaids and family, the moments of quiet reflection, and the final details coming together. My goal is to document these intimate, anticipatory moments with sensitivity and artistic skill, ensuring that when you look back, you don’t just see a photograph, but feel the excitement and love of that morning all over again. These images add depth and completeness to the story of your wedding day, allowing you to preserve every significant step of the journey.
Technical Approach
To achieve this detailed close-up while providing a pleasingly soft background, I used my Canon EOS 90D with the EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens at a focal length of 90mm. I selected an aperture of f/5.6 to ensure critical sharpness on the hair detail while allowing the background to gently blur. A shutter speed of 1/200s was ample to freeze any slight movement, and an ISO of 25600 helped manage the ambient light conditions effectively, resulting in a beautifully rendered image that highlights the texture and shine of the hair and accessory.
