Introduction: The moments leading up to a wedding ceremony are often filled with an intoxicating blend of anticipation, joy, and camaraderie. This captivating image, showcasing five sharply dressed men brimming with smiles, perfectly embodies that spirit at Jordan and Fiona’s remarkable East meet West wedding. As a dedicated wedding photographer, my passion lies in capturing these genuine, #unforgettablememories that weave together the unique tapestry of your special day.
Main Content
This particular photograph tells a story of elegance and excitement. Each of the five gentlemen, a crucial part of the wedding party, is impeccably turned out, adding distinct flair to the scene. We see one man on the left in a sophisticated grey vest over a maroon shirt, paired with grey trousers and black shoes. Next to him, a gentleman sporting a blue suit with a matching tie and brown shoes, his beard and light brown hair adding to his distinguished look. The central figure commands attention in a striking teal patterned jacket, black trousers, and black shoes, complemented by his long, dark hair and beard. The fourth man from the left showcases a crisp white jacket over a maroon shirt, lighter trousers, and eye-catching red shoes, framed by his curly brown hair and glasses. Finally, the man on the right opts for a classic black suit and black shoes, his short, dark hair completing the ensemble. They stand together on a concrete surface, with a backdrop of lush green bushes and a light-coloured wall, creating a natural and relaxed setting for this joyful pre-ceremony moment. This was a #SwindonWedding for Jordan and Fiona, a truly unique celebration at the Upper Stratton Baptist Church.
The Vision Behind the Shot
This image captures the essence of the ‘getting-ready’ phase, a crucial part of the wedding narrative often overlooked but rich with emotion. My approach is always to provide comprehensive storytelling across all wedding events, ensuring no cherished moment goes uncaptured. For Jordan and Fiona, this was the final event in an extended Wedding journey across two countries, bringing their UK wedding ceremony to life. What made it even more special was their beautiful decision to combine Western wear for the ceremony, as seen here, and Eastern wear for their reception – a powerful symbol of their cultural fusion and unique love story. My focus here was on candid capture of authentic moments, allowing the genuine emotions and connections between these men to shine through naturally, ensuring the #weddingday narrative is complete and vibrant.

Technical Approach
To freeze this joyous moment with clarity and depth, I captured this shot in Spring using my Canon EOS 5D Mark IV, paired with the versatile EF28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM lens. To ensure excellent depth of field, keeping all subjects sharply in focus, I set the aperture to f/10. A shutter speed of 1/200s was chosen to prevent any motion blur, perfectly freezing the smiles and subtle movements. With an ISO of 200, I minimised noise, ensuring clean, crisp images under the prevailing lighting conditions. The focal length was 56.0 mm, providing a natural, standard perspective that feels intimate yet encompassing. Flash was utilised to provide fill light and add a professional polish to the scene, highlighting details and ensuring balanced illumination, even against the natural backdrop of green bushes and a light wall, a signature element of my #UKWeddingPhotography.
